Maurice M. Smith, MD

Dr. Maurice Smith joined Semmes Murphey Clinic in June of 1993 as a Complex Spine surgeon. He serves as an Assistant Professor for the Department of Neurosurgery for the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, as well as being on the Board of Directors at the Medical Education & Research Institute.

Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California in 1988. He completed his internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, followed by Fellowships in Adult Spine Reconstruction and Minimally Invasive Techniques, and Complex Spine Reconstruction and Stabilization.

Additionally, he is active in the development of the technology used in complex spine surgery, for which he holds multiple patents.

Dr. Smith, his wife and two boys live in the Memphis Area.
