Violiza Inoa

Dr. Violiza Inoa Acosta is a board-certified neurologist specializing in vascular neurology and neurointervention. Vascular neurology involves diagnosing and treating conditions related to the blood vessels that supply the brain. This field focuses on managing diseases that affect the vascular system of the brain, such as stroke, aneurysms, and vascular malformations.

Dr. Inoa completed her neurology residency at the University of Connecticut and her vascular neurology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Subsequently, she underwent a two-year fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.

Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, Dr. Inoa is an integral member of the neuroendovascular team at the Semmes Murphey Clinic. Her commitment to advancing the field is evident through her role as the Chair of the Women in Neurointervention Committee for the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS).

Dr. Inoa's global impact extends beyond clinical practice. She has been a key figure in Mission Thrombectomy 2020+, a global health campaign aimed at accelerating access to stroke thrombectomy worldwide. In collaboration with the World Stroke Organization (WSO), she leads international efforts to enhance training and knowledge of stroke treatments.

As an Associate Editor for the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery, Dr. Inoa actively contributes to the academic community. Her expertise is further recognized through various awards, including the honor of being named a "Memphis Top Doctor" in 2022 and 2023.

Married to Dr. Andres Ramos, a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Inoa is a proud mother of two daughters, SofĂ­a and Emma. Her commitment to family and professional excellence exemplifies the multifaceted nature of her impactful career.
