Dr. Nitin Goyal is a board-certified endovascular neurologist with Semmes Murphey Clinic.

He graduated from Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College in 2010. While in medical school, he worked extensively with rural, impoverished children of Udaipur City to raise awareness about nutritional hygiene and immunization.

He completed a neurology clerkship rotation at Massachusetts General Hospital, which inspired his interest in neurology. In 2011, he moved to the United States to complete his neurology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis. During this time, Nitin had an experience that shaped his future.

“When I began my residency in 2012, I had rotations in the vascular field. It’s a procedural branch of neurology, where physicians can perform treatment that brings immediate improvement. I remember watching a doctor treat a patient, and he got better right there on the table. I appreciate that ‘instant gratification’ of bringing immediate results to my patients,” he says.

He continued his training in neurocritical care before completing two years in endovascular neurology at Semmes Murphey.

A prolific researcher and writer, Nitin has published more than 100 peer-reviewed academic papers in national and international journals in the field of vascular and interventional neurology. He has also presented approximately 50 abstracts at various international medical conferences. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee HSC.
