Genicular Nerve Injection
The knee has three nerves that run to it and serve as sensory nerves for the joint. When standard (intra-articular) joint injections do not work, this can be an option. It is a nerve block done under an x-ray where medication is placed around the nerves to help reduce pain in the knee. These nerves can also be “burned” as detailed in the radiofrequency ablation section, offering long-lasting relief.
If you are experiencing pain, request an appointment with a Semmes Murphey doctor to find a relief option that is right for you.
