Jay P. McDonald
Dr. Jay McDonald is a board-certified physician in both Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He treats all types of pain through a multidisciplinary approach using nerve blocks, minimally invasive surgical techniques, medications, and physical therapy. After several years in private practice in Jackson, MS, he moved back home to Memphis and joined Semmes Murphey. Dr. McDonald graduated from Memphis University School and earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Georgia, majoring in both biology and psychology. He served at the Church Health Center before moving to New Orleans to complete a Master’s in Public Health at Tulane University and a Medical Doctorate at the Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Anesthesiology, where he was elected chief resident and named Resident of the Year. Following residency, Dr. McDonald completed a fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Dr. McDonald's focus area includes all spine-related pain. He also specializes in spinal cord stimulators and interventional treatments for headaches.
He lives in Memphis with his wife and two young boys.
