Dr. Nick Khan Joins Semmes Murphey Team
Dr. Khan is a native Memphis who specializes in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery.
Semmes Murphey Clinic is proud to welcome Dr. Nick Khan to the team as of July 1, 2021. The University of Memphis and University of Tennessee graduate practices skull base neurosurgery, vascular neurosurgery, and spinal surgery.
Dr. Khan has a special interest in treating patients with aneurysms, brain tumors, vascular disorders, and conditions such as moyamoya disease (a narrowing of the arteries in the brain in patients as young as their 20s or 30s).
“It’s always nice to come back to the program where you did your residency. I know the team and was able to hit the ground running right away,” Dr. Khan says.
“It’s great giving back to the community where I grew up. I’m a big Memphis Tigers fan and went to medical school at UT; many of my patients I know through family or friend connections. My grandfather was treated for a ruptured aneurysm by Dr. John Brophy from Semmes Murphey, and I think that inspired my interest in neurosurgery,” he says.
Dr. Khan’s favorite local spot is Central BBQ, and he enjoys taking his family to Shelby Farms. “I also enjoy fly fishing in the region … when I can get off work and not be on call,” he says with a laugh.
Dr. Khan holds undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering, Biology, and Chemistry and graduated at the top of his class at UTHSC. Along with a residency and endovascular fellowship under Dr. Adam Arthur of Semmes Murphey, he also completed a post-graduate fellowship at the University of Miami in open skull base and cerebrovascular surgery and additional training in Bristol, England in skull base and vascular disorders.
Dr. Khan and his wife, Mandy, have two children, Luke and Elizabeth.
