"Legendary Memphis Doctors": Dr. Madison Michael Featured in Memphis Medical News Magazine

We’re excited to share that Memphis Medical News selected Dr. L. Madison Michael II as one of Memphis’ five legendary doctors. He is currently featured on the cover of the publication’s special InCharge Healthcare 2025 issue.

In his interview, Dr. Michael shares how he found his inspiration to pursue medicine from watching an episode of “Northern Exposure” while traveling in Alaska during a climbing expedition. He goes on to discuss colleagues and mentors who have helped him throughout his career journey and the wisdom he has picked up along the way for life in the operating room and in the outside world.

Dr. Michael has been a neurosurgeon at Semmes Murphey Clinic for 20 years and specializes in skull base surgery. For the past 13 years, he has been director of Semmes Murphey’s neurosurgical residency program.
