" For those eligible for the surgery, the alternative generally would be end-of-life care," says Dr. Boucher. The device used, GammaTile, is a form of localized radiation. Localized radiation has been commonly used for the treatment of other cancers, such as prostate cancer, however use for brain cancer patients is relatively new.
