Paul Park

Paul Park, MD, is a Neurosurgeon specializing in spine care. Dr. Park's clinical focus encompasses minimally invasive techniques, complex spinal reconstruction, and degenerative conditions such as spondylolisthesis, infection, spinal deformity such as scoliosis, and spinal tumors.

Dr. Park's treatment philosophy is patient-centered. Each patient is unique and requires careful evaluation to determine the best management plan. Dr. Park, although highly trained in complex spine surgery, Dr. Park's philosophy is to offer the least invasive option possible for the benefit of his patients.

Dr. Park was born in Los Angeles, CA. He then attended UCLA, where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree in biology. Dr. Park subsequently completed medical school and neurosurgical residency at the University of Michigan.

Given his interest in the spine, Dr. Park completed an enfolded fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Spine Institute and a post-residency fellowship in minimally invasive spinal surgery at the Semmes-Murphey Clinic.

Before returning to Semmes Murphey Clinic, Dr. Park was a Professor of Neurosurgery as well as the Director of the Spine Program and Spine Fellowship Director at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he practiced nearly 17 years.

Dr. Park's research interests are varied, including basic research on disc degeneration and spine-related cancer as well as clinical investigations into spinal surgery techniques and outcomes. He has been the principal investigator or co-investigator of numerous clinical trials involving spinal infection, minimally invasive surgery, spinal deformity, and spinal cord injury, among others. Dr. Park has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles in addition to numerous book chapters and edited two texts on spinal surgery. Dr. Park is also a frequently invited speaker nationally and internationally at scientific meetings on spine-related topics. He is an active member of multiple neurosurgical and spinal societies serving on numerous committees. Dr. Park serves or has served on the editorial boards of various neurosurgical and spine journals.

Paul Park and his team are the BEST! My dad had cervical fusion and it went wrong , we are blessed to have Paul Park to fix him . It was a 9 hour surgery with two surgeons working on him . Dr. Paul Park, hands down, is the best Neurosurgeon out there - Precise, efficient, and perfection at its best. Minimally evasive L4 L5 laminectomy today 8/15/2018. Whole procedure hobbling into hospital at 5:30 am walking out straight up at 11:00 am. A regular band-aid covers the incision. Dr. Park is nice direct, and to the point. Tells exactly what's going to happen and what to expect, period. My results turned out better than expected all sciatic nerve pain gone and most lumbar pain gone. I can walk again and stand more than 5 minutes.

I’m a walking miracle to this day bc of Him & God. He’s done 2 back surgeries out of 10 on me. We travel over 9 hrs to see him. I was a nurse for 12 yrs before having this extremely rare spinal cord disease that affects my entire body, but I would’ve been fired & they still get away with it. I hear all universities are like this. Otherwise he’s a genius & I can’t let anyone touch my back/or spine area. His nurse practitioner is great as well! I usually get over the phone stuff done through her or email as I never have been able to speak to a nurse when I’ve asked so I just email her directly as when I call it’s urgent! There’s no hospital near me that would even begin to think about touching my back! So the 5 stars are due to him & his NP! When I call 1-2 times a yr they act like it’s no big deal, but my condition is so rare only around 150 people worldwide have been diagnosed with this so far. I can become paralyzed at any second or moment. No matter, ALL patients should be treated with the utmost respect in my opinion!
