Radiofrequency Ablation

Certain nerves in the body carry only painful sensory information from parts of the body. In certain circumstances, usually neck and low back pain, these nerves can be “burned” with a special procedure that will eliminate the pain without causing any other nerve damage. This is a procedure done under an x-ray with a special type of needle. No incision is needed. The needle is placed through the skin and on top of the nerve. The needle then is connected to a machine that heats the tip of the needle until the targeted nerve is destroyed.
