Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block

This is a procedure done for migraines. There is a cluster of nerves that are located deep in the nasal passage. When these nerves are over-active, it can be the cause of migraines. A special device that looks like a thin rubber straw can be introduced into the nose under x-ray guidance. Then medication can be delivered through this device to help “turn off” the nerves that are often responsible for migraines, giving patients relief from these types of headaches.
