Kyle A. Smith
Dr. Kyle A. Smith is a board-certified neurosurgeon. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where he pursued his interest in neurosurgery and received the Avicenna Award for Excellence in Neurosciences.
Dr. Smith completed a neurosurgical residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. While in residency, he developed a broad scope of training and experience in brain and spine neurosurgery. He maintains special interests in complex spine, minimally-invasive spine surgery, and cranial and spinal tumor surgery. He performs outpatient spine procedures and manages operative and non-operative treatment of spine and brain disorders.
During his 7-year residency, Dr. Smith contributed extensive clinical research, publishing over 40 papers and book chapters on spine surgery, brain tumors, patient care quality improvement, and other topics. During training, he has received multiple honors for research and academic performance (for example, among the Top Ten scores nationally for the ABNS board-certification written exam).
Dr. Smith treats a variety of neurosurgical conditions at Semmes Murphey and is available to see patients in a timely manner. Exams and tests can be performed in-house at Semmes Murphey for convenience.
